AF Day 288

FOB Smart at 1800 - Sunday

End of the week - check! Snow in Qalat - again - CHECK! I mean, come on with the whole snowy weather thing in Zabul Province. It is snowing again and the ground had only in the last couple of days returned to a normal winter dry for this area. Spring rains are coming next I hear. Such weather can cause people to become dismayed - but not me, no sir and no thank you.

I would say today was another average day filled with lots of paperwork, planning, and dreaming for warmer days to allow for a return to full mission workloads, at least for me and my work. Other than the normal day-to-day recurring tasks, another day has now come and gone. The skies are once more dark and snow is silently falling all around. We may just wake up with a foot or more again on our FOB. This will once more delay certain local or nearby projects, but I am starting to understand the not-too-hurried mind of some of my local counterparts and such delays brought on by weather now seems par for the course as it were.

I was in a great position to take many more troop photographs today. With the final preparations underway for troop change out and their resultant goodbyes and hellos, my affinity for taking such has grown even more of late. Capturing the images you do not get to see often, or ever, back home is the main impetus and it is nice to share the good times.

143, Kaesen.

Good night and good day.
