FOB Smart at 1800 - Thursday
The day ran its course normally enough. The evening is doing the same. A little chilly, a little sunshine, and a lot of encouraging smiles found everywhere on the faces of nearly everyone - a good day was had! Normal enough yes I presume, if a little slow, and calm.
I saw one of our doctors this afternoon. I had a steroid injection into my right knee; it has been hurting something fierce lately, although I said it was mildly disruptive. I had my left knee check too. My lower back can wait until May. Even with a growing weight loss of 72+ pounds, the same old "old me" aches and pains have continued in my time here in Afghanistan. I presume the damage was already done - but the weight loss is proving to be great for preventing further damage, or so I understand. Swimming, a lot of it, is in my near future once I land in Seattle.
We have missions galore coming up soon. I am looking forward to these, including a two+ day overnight to places far north of here. Work will quickly return to a warm normal for the jobs here in Qalat if the snows continue to abate and the rain stays light for the next month or more. Good things are going to happen here in Zabul Province - well they already have, but I mean they will happen again in 2012!
143, Kaesen.
Good night and good day.
