FOB Smart at 1830 - Monday
Where has this day gone? We met with three US Army Corps of Engineers personnel this morning, they flew in from KAF for three hours, and reviewed tour of duty information, briefed administrative changes that only minimally affect us, and enjoyed lunch in our DFAC. Certain of the changes will be very positive for me, although with less than 73 days until I leave Afghanistan, their fruitful impact will be more readily seen by my backfill and my current comrade, Ed Ciccarelli.
We had more meetings with PRT personnel, reviewed project files, discussed ongoing construction initiatives, and planned for the road ahead, which includes the departure of our current military PRT rotation and the arrival of the next team in the next few weeks. All in all, another darn good day for us here at Forward Operating Base Smart.
I understand my son had a wonderful weekend. His mother sent me 12 photographs of Kaesen last night, my morning today, which absolutely brightened my day!
143, Kaesen.
Good night and good day.
