FOB Smart at 1930 - Wednesday
Wow, was it, and still is, cold here today! When it is freezing out and you have to be out in it, if too cold, you think of nothing else. So, it was that cold out and I had to be out in it today. Needless to say, I thought a lot about how cold I was... I have never really been one to talk about the weather so much... until we moved to North Dakota in September 2010 and more again since coming here. I presume some of this need comes from the idea for this blog, to discuss what affects me here and there, but the cold is something very foreign to me, even having experienced it last winter, so talking about it I guess helps to say that there is not a whole lot going on here right now - because of the cold!
I completed a mission to another forward operating base today. We went to mail boxes, shop, get haircuts, and get coffee from the hot coffee shop - since we cannot do any of this on our FOB. I mailed another box to my son, full of goodies and a DVD player. I try to send him a box about one per week or two. He just loves getting these from me. He says thank you and talks about the contents, so I will keep it up for the next 77 days I am here.
Remind me, after my deployment, to write about some of the other experiences I have had here that I cannot write about right now. For now, check out this link: http://www.armytimes.com/news/2012/02/army-davis-afghanistan-report-020612w/.
143, Kaesen.
Good night and good day.
