Provincial Reconstruction Team Zabul - Forward Operating Base Smart
Qalat, Zabul Province, Afghanistan
Members from the March 2012 - December 2012 PRT rotation take command of the PRT during a time-honored military tradition - the RIP/TOA, or Relief in Place/Turnover Authority. The final remnants of our outgoing team, including our honorable commander, Lieutenant Colonel Paul LaVigne, will soon fly away to their homes and usher in the end of their rotation once and for all. We all are proud of these two teams, which have a history intertwined with the first PRT rotation years ago on their own Day One and Final Day. One Team One Fight!
The latter photographs were also taken on 11 March 2012 during a dismounted foot patrol through Old Qalat City. The skies, while beautiful, seem to portend something more ominous than just rain. Today was a trying time outside of our walls - especially in southern Afghanistan. Life is a constant equalizing experience in these lands. Enjoy!
