Phoenix, Arizona, at 2300 - Friday
Breakfast at Bobo's in Tucson, Arizona, this morning was fabulous. Billy Wilson and I used to eat there four times a week back in 2001 when he first moved to Tucson. I am telling y'all, Bob's makes the best pancakes around and their other breakfast menu items are delicious. Kaesen had a single plate-sized cake today for the first time. He ate half and he ate well.
We made it up to Phoenix earlier in the afternoon and were both so happy to be back in the loving arms of my dad and his beautiful wife, Viviane. Kaesen loves his Goppie and Vovo! They barbecued chicken and made a tasty potato salad for dinner tonight. I had a few beers with the neighbor and Kaesen played with their two similarly-aged children for a couple of hours. Kaesen and I fell asleep watching his cartoons on television tonight. This is probably the best thing I can say that makes me feel so close to my son. When he falls asleep in my arms I am whole, I am complete, and everything in the world is absolutely right in those moments.
Tomorrow is the big feijoada and I am stoked for all of the tasty meats and beans and rice to eat! I plan to finish packing for our trips back home, Kaesen to Washington with his momma and me to Frankfurt, Dubai, Kandahar, and finally to FOB Smart. The packing should take at least 24 or 48 hours knowing me, but I am certain I can make exceptions and get it done in about three! LOL
I am so happy to have been able to spend so much time with all of my family that was available. I am sad to have missed my momma and Ted due to snow and bad weather in Odessa, Texas. This summer will be fun for Kaesen and me to drive over there and visit them and my brother, Tay, and his family. Kaesen needs another dose of Texas reality! I miss my momma and cannot wait to see here again! Also being able to see friends during this trip with Kaesen has been special. Family and friends are what make everything in life more enjoyable.
143, Kaesen.
Good night and good day.
