Las Cruces, New Mexico, at 0600 - Friday
We awoke this early morning to inches of snow on the ground and winds blowing the pure white stuff, this glorious snow, all around the skies over Las Cruces. Kaesen asked for Lucky Charms and me for coffee and we have enjoyed the scene unfolding outside the windows. Who knows whether it will continue to stick as the days wears on, the sun rises on this beautiful valley, and the temperature slowly creeps up again, but right now it is picturesque and perfect for a Christmas holiday with family and friends.
Kaesen's presents are wrapped and the one's from Santa Claus are ready to be positioned right in front of his eyes when he wakes and runs down the stairs to see the living room transformed into a Christmas morning retreat. I love the spark in his eyes now and whenever he hears jingle bells, even if they are merely the family dog playing with a dog toy, he thinks Santa's reindeer are flying overhead and asks everyone if they hear the same.
I know not what the future holds over the next four months and I know a fierce fight for personal survival will ensue, but right now I know my son is healthy and happy and this is all that could possibly ever matter.
143, Kaesen.
Good night and good day.
