AF Day 213

Kandahar Airfield at 1430 - Tuesday

I leave here in approximately 48 hours. I sent Kaesen another video of me reading a book to him, "Tomorrow's Alphabet," from the USO here on Kandahar Airfield (KAF). It is a joy to be able to send him boxes of surprises, treats, and books. It is even better for him to see a video of me reading the book he receives that can be played repeatedly. I am so connected to him.

The weather here is slightly warmer right now than FOB Smart in Qalat. I still needed a jacket first thing this morning, but it has warmed considerably throughout the morning and afternoon now. I have spent a portion of the day training for work and am now at a break point. My thoughts are clouded by the reality of being home in several days, and the long journey it takes to get there, and how much I will enjoy this R&R. Even so, I miss my work at FOB Smart already and the friends and comrades I work with there.

143, Kaesen.

Good night and good day.
