FOB Smart at 1700 - Wednesday
It has been a very long day for me today - and it is only 1700! I will be glad to finally get to sleep tonight. I have less than seven days remaining at FOB Smart. It will be nice to be on my way to Seattle in about 13 days to see my son. Everything else is just a little white noise, routine, procedure, etc. I am looking forward to the next phase of my life!
Today we completed a dismounted foot patrol into Old Qalat City. It could be said that we experienced more of the same positive interactions we always do when we leave the safety and comfort of the wire. We met with an education official at a nearby school who is in need of more supplies, possibly some construction, and a lot more of the polished goodwill we distribute so effectively. Sometimes a little kindness goes a very long way. I stopped at three of my projects along the way this morning; they are all progressing as expected and well.
I miss my son tremendously.
143, Kaesen.
Good night and good day.
