AF Day 326

FOB Smart at 1700 - Wednesday

The once over for today goes a little something like this - it was normal. We woke up, we ate breakfast, we worked, and then we stopped working. They ate lunch, we worked more, and then we finished working. Dinner is right now, so I am super-hungry and a little tired. In all of this, my day included another mission outside the wire into Old Qalat City. I met with several contractors and observed progress at several projects. It was uneventful and the mission went much faster than usual. I suppose this was aided by one less stop and two stops that were very fast. It pays to be quick in our process during missions - in terms of safety, security, efficiency, and when it is hot, like it is rapidly becoming here, in terms of energy.

My son called this morning before my mission. We chatted briefly and somewhat energetically. I have been working on tongue twisters with him. He is currently memorizing Peter Piper with my help. I do not recall doing this when I was his age, but he gets a kick out of it and so do I. Talk about good times. He has been a little sick again lately, with mostly a cold or a cough, although today he sounded great.

Can you believe it is already creeping toward the second week of April? I cannot. It seems like just the other day it was April of last year and I was preparing to place my household goods into storage and begin a family vacation before this deployment. Time flies...

143, Kaesen.

Good night and good day.
