AF Day 327

FOB Smart at 1200 - Thursday

Hey now, today is payday, it is always play day, and today is my one day closer to home. Well, they all are in a sense minus the payday. It is lunchtime here in Qalat and I am feeling stoked. I have half the day to go and already I am tired; I need a pick-me-up... in the form of hot coffee.

We completed another mission into New Qalat City this morning. We returned a few minutes ago. It was a successful mission in that we met with contractors at a future jobsite for an upcoming bid, I walked through another project - that is still incomplete, and we interacted with many kids at the last stop where we are building a new school. No bubbles - no troubles here and there today.

Kaesen and I talked and Skyped this morning before I left. He is growing like a weed. It makes me proud when I see him and how much he has become a wonderful little boy. And he is a loving little boy, too. The excitement is barely containable any more.

The weather is warm again, maybe the low 80s today; the clouds are distant and assuring. The air is full of savory smells, as well as some less desirable, and lots of moon dust - you can never have too much moon dust to breathe. The birds were screaming this morning as I woke and walked to and from the DFAC. The local and nearby traffic noises all around are interestingly different than I have been accustomed to in any American city. Maybe the horns are different, or maybe the people interacting with the vehicles, and the faint or loud laughter and yelling, and then with the occasional addition of calls to prayer - well, it is different here no doubt.

I have lunch to work through and more work to work through. Until again...

143, Kaesen.

Good night and good day.
