FOB Smart at 2351 - Monday
What a grand day we had here at FOB Smart. Mostly I say this because I had two incredible missions outside the wire, including a two-hour foot patrol through Old Qalat City and one mounted combat patrol into New Qalat City. We walked a terrific distance, saw many children along the way - which allowed me to hand out candy and goodies sent from my momma, and observed progress on five of my local projects. The children were so very happy to receive the sweets and I so happy to share with them. Thank you to my momma for sending them and a "thank you" for the Dallas Garden Club ladies too!
Kaesen sounded wonderful on his way to school a little while ago. He is always excited to share with whomever he is near that amount of days remaining we have until we reunite once more. At 24 days and counting down, the time for this is drawings near.
Tomorrow I have more work to observe on the FOB, which is progressing rather well now. I have more outside the wire missions planned and recurring regularly, so keeping busy, as usual, is never an issue for me!
