FOB Smart at 1507 – Wednesday
Today started early, for me again, with an early mission brief covering two missions before the sun rose this morning. We completed the dismounted and mounted combat patrols to Old Qalat City and New Qalat City within a very reasonable amount of time. I had several meetings, one including the governor of Zabul Province, and had time even for breakfast and lunch. The day has gone by quickly and I have but one meeting remaining before the schedule is cleared for a day or two!
Tonight brings more of the same and tomorrow too. All is well.
In less than 15 days, I will be flying across the world to see K&K and some of my family in New Mexico. I am so excited! With all the flight times, time zone changes, and travel delays between here and there, I will have flown and travelled for 25 hours - and while I leave on the 8th from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, I also land on the 8th in the afternoon in El Paso, Texas, where K&K will be waiting for me to arrive. A short drive to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and life will suddenly change for two glorious weeks.
143, K&K.
Good night and good day.
