I woke today much later than usual. Last night I found out that my flight to Kandahar would mot be until this evening. Even better, we learned that today would be a "relaxed" day with fun activities or time to spend in a down mode. I elected to sleep in for the first time since May 7, 2010. Today was a great day!
My flight, on a UH-60, was fast from Qalat to Kandahar Airfield. I observed mostly darkness with sporadic lights from very small villages or homesteads. There may have even been a couple of exciting moments during the flight... but I shouldn't talk about that. Let your mind travel to where I am at and imagine what I may have seen.
